Dec/20/13

Before everyone from Electric Imp heads out for the holidays, we have some joyful new IDE enhancements – and an Internet connected meat thermometer – to tell you about.

A new search bar integrated at the top of the IDE sidebar will now enable you to look for devices by name or ID, and we’ve added the ability to delete devices via the device settings in the IDE. And for those who are looking to bring your product to market, we also launched our Ops Console in Beta, which enables easier scaling.

And just in time for the big Electric Imp holiday dinner, at our recent hackathon we spent the day hacking a meat thermometer. When imp-powered, the thermometer will be able to provide online updates at various times throughout the roasting process of our turkey. We’re planning to connect the thermometer to Twitter so that antsy dinner guests can follow it and receive updates directly from the roast to know precisely when it’s meal time!

We’ll tell you more about the connected thermometer in an upcoming blog post and instructable in the new year, so clear your plates!

That’s it for the remainder of the year. We thank you for a tremendous 2013 and wish you all the best for the holidays, the coming year and beyond. See you again in 2014!

Happy holidays,

Tom Sarris
