Retrofit connectivity is connecting existing commercial and industrial equipment to back-end systems and the cloud. Once connected, the ability to remotely monitor and control equipment allows customers to realize substantial business benefits. Most equipment made over the past decade have built-in sensors, electronic controls that provides operational data and controls through local interfaces such as serial or USB for use by service technicians. These same interfaces can be used to retrofit cloud connectivity adapters, thus enabling remote, real-time access to the equipment.
